Come to Henshaw Barn for a memorable  gastronomic  experience, as you linger over culinary delights in the intimate atmosphere of our sitting/dining room  (once the home of farm animals – so hard to believe!) NOW….with its french oak ceiling beams, glorious woodburning stove, comfy sofas and chairs and atmospheric lighting, it is the epitome of elegant country house living.

John is a hugely experienced, classically trained professional chef, who delights in preparing and providing delicious, wholesome food. Produce must be fresh, seasonal and  locally sourced, in order to be perfectly cooked and full of flavour.

John firmly believes and takes pride in attractive presentation – each dish is an art form, and an accurate representation of his philosophy.

At Henshaw Barn we regularly change our menus, but breakfast is a consistently lavish affair. Our buffet table is crammed with a rich mix of cereals; fruit compotes; fabulous fresh fruit salad; fruit juice, croissants, and homemade bread, jams and marmalade! Our Northumbrian breakfast is amazing.  A house speciality is John’s homemade black pudding, a welcome accompaniment to locally produced sausages, home smoked  bacon  and free range  extra large eggs. World renowned Craster kippers are always popular, with many lighter options also available for those with smaller appetites.
Food is cooked to order, and partnered with a cafetiere of freshly ground coffee or a welcome pot of tea – with a choice of speciality teas also available.

With advance notice Vegetarians and Vegans are easily catered for, as are those with special dietary needs.
